High Cross Inn
We have remodelled the ‘old traditional’ High Cross Inn into a refreshingly different but delightful ‘new’ Café/Bar. We’re located just outside Broughton in Furness at the top of the hill on the A595. It’s well worth the walk from the village……and if you’re using the festival transport be sure to ask the bus driver to drop you off @ The High Cross Inn because….we offer a trilogy of great food, a unique venue and memorable hospitality. We are fully licensed to provide alcohol, music and entertainment: So come and join us for a fantastic Broughton Festival of Beer experience.
This year we are offering your designated drivers complimentary mugs of tea or coffee. For the ladies we stock ‘house’ wine by the glass or bottle, fizz, spirits and mixers or smoothies, fresh juice and the usual selection of soft drinks.
We have a top secret ‘guest’ beer for the 2018 festival….which we’re serving in small, complimentary ‘taster’ shots, on the hour, every hour, or in 500ml bottles for sale. Last year it was a surprisingly popular Tiramisu Stout which was @ 10% ABV that had a few of your socks blown off and it sold out!
Be sure to pop in during the beer festival for a warm welcome and to enjoy the fabulous panoramic views of the Duddon river estuary from the front ‘sun’ terrace (fingers crossed) or the cosy café or comfortable conservatory. At the High Cross we’ve made the leap towards ‘craft beer’; small batches of ‘hooch’ created using Cumbrian rain-water, hand-crafted by a master brewer, bottled and served best chilled, apparently! We have 4 of the best ‘Hawkshead’ as regular features: Brodie’s Prime, Red, Lakeland Gold and Windermere Pale. We also stock their award winning British lager….as good as any of its continental rivals!
On the food menu this year we will feature our exceedingly delicious ‘High Cross Hot Dogs’ (made with Tyson’s Cumberland sausage) as well as High Cross special ‘chilli dogs’, plus our seriously amazing Giant Sausage Rolls. There’s also a ‘soup and sandwich’ option…plus….we offer take-away service. Gluten free and vegetarian options are always on the menu. We also serve brilliant breakfasts, light lunches and amazing cream teas. Everything is made here on the premises.
If you’d like to stay overnight, our 4 en-suite bedrooms boast unsurpassed views; all have a flat screen TV and Wi-Fi access. With a residents’ kitchen, laundry facility, a drying room for wet walking gear and safe lock up for bicycles, we provide a contemporary ‘boutique’ style B&B with ample free parking. There’s also a muddy boots and dirty, wet dog-wash station.
Look us up on air B&B before you come or book direct on 01229 715 295. Make a date ……. and we’ll make it special. Website is www.high-cross-inn.uk
